Majura Pines has been on Canberra’s mountain biking map since the dawn of time. Majura’s glowing history includes National rounds, National Championships and Solo 24Hr races. The iconic trails plunging into the depths of the pine plantation and running in and out of gullies were where many of Canberra’s prominent riders cut their teeth.
The decision to upgrade Majura Rd in 2012 brought despair to the mountain biking community, as the plans involved cutting through part of the plantation and destroying many well established trails. Thankfully, mountain bikers are a determined bunch, and not long after the completion of the roadworks, The Majura Pines Trail Alliance jumped in and started revamping the whole area with a whole lot of exciting new trails.
For those of you familiar with the area, the new Majura is a nostalgic mix of remnant trails linking some amazing new sections. A dedicated dirt jump and pump track area also adds to the excitement.
Head on over to the Majura Pines Trail Alliance website for all the latest news, including trail status and condition, and a great range of information on the area.
